A poignant historical record of Long Island’s vanishing rural heritage, Evening Graze — Calverton, NY captures a peaceful moment of solitude on open pastureland that has since been lost to development. Rendered in colored pencil on illustration board, Joanne immortalizes the warm, golden glow of dusk settling over the farm, defined by the sweeping wooden fence line and a solitary horse grazing against the horizon. Created in 2006, this original studio landscape serves as a timeless archival tribute to the pastoral beauty and equestrian traditions of the East End.
